The Embassy of China in Rwanda Holds a Spring Festival Reception

On January 16, Chinese Embassy in Rwanda held a Spring Festival Reception. More than 300 people attended, including Hon. Gen. (Rtd.) Kabarebe James, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in Charge of Regional Cooperation, Hon. Wellars Gasamagera, Secretary General of RPF-InkotanyiJean Baptiste ngiruwonsanga, Major General of RDF, and other senior officials, representatives from Rwanda Government, Rwandan friends from all walks of life who visited and studied in China during 2024, diplomatic missions and UN agencies, as well as Chinese compatriots in Rwanda.

Amb. Wang Xuekun welcomed the Rwandan friends who visited China for study last year and extended greetings to all the guests. He congratulated the inscription of the Chinese Spring Festival and the Rwandan Intore dance into the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List, as well as the achievements of bilateral cultural exchanges. The heads of state of both countries met during FOCAC Summit, elevated bilateral relationship to comprehensive strategic partnership. He reaffirmed China will always be a long-term, trustworthy and reliable partner of Rwanda.

Hon.Gen. (Rtd.) Kabarebe James as the guest of honor expressed his gratitude to Amb. Wang, and extended his best wishes. He said that the recent elevation of bilateral relationship is a testament to the growing bond between our countries. The inscription of the Chinese Spring Festival and the Rwandan Intore dance into the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List is a milestone moment, which highlights the power of culture in fostering understanding and strengthening diplomatic ties. The cooperation in various fields achieved fruitful results. China is the leading contributor to Foreign Direct Investment in Rwanda, making great contributions to Rwanda's economic and social development. Rwanda is willing to continue to enhance its bilateral relations with China, implement the outcomes of previous engagements under the FOCAC, and bring more benefits to both sides.

Various performances divided into three chapters, namely meeting each other, knowing each other and creating a shared future have impressed the audience. Chinese Long Dance and Rwandas Intore dance took the opening part and the conclusion part, heating the atmosphere on site. Students from Fawe Girls School singing of Chinese songs guide people calling back the visit of H.E. Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuans visit to Rwanda in 2018. Rounds of applause ignites the beautiful evening in Kigali.
