Rwanda National Kungfu Wushu Championship successfully concludes

On Nov. 6th, Rwanda National Kungfu Wushu Championship successfully concluded in Kigali. H.E. WANG Xuekun, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, Mr. Joseph KAJANGWE, Secretary General of Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNSOC), Mr. Marc UWIRAGIYE, President of Rwanda Kungfu Wushu Federation (RKWF), and official from the Rwanda Ministry of Sports (MINISPORTS) watched the competition.

H.E. WANG Xuekun congratulated the athletes on their excellent performances and commended their enthusiasm for Kungfu. The Ambassador thanked the Federation for its hard work in organizing the championship, and its long-term work in promoting the sport of Kungfu and Chinese culture in Rwanda. He also thanked MINISPORTS and the RNSOC for supporting the development of Kungfu in Rwanda. He said that Kungfu is not only a physical exercise and a channel to make friends, but also a carrier of Chinese traditional culture. Kungfu is playing an increasingly important role in enhancing the exchanges between China and Rwanda. He hopes that more people can participate in the sport. The Chinese embassy will continue to support the development of Kungfu in Rwanda, and promote stronger ties between the two countries.

Mr. Joseph KAJANGWE said that the RNSOC appreciates the work of the RKWF and thanks the Chinese Embassy for its continued support. The Kungfu communities in Rwanda are active in competitions with steady improvement of skills. The RNSOC will further increase its support.

Mr. Marc UWIRAGIYE thanked the embassy for its strong support, and said that this championship fully showed the ability of the contestants, reflecting the wide spread of Chinese culture in Rwanda and the deep friendship between the peoples of the two countries. The Federation will continue to work hard to promote Kungfu.

This National Championship is hosted by the RKWF. It is composed of regional preselection and national finals, with two disciplines of Taolu and Sanda. More than 30 Chinese Kungfu clubs across the country participated.
