2020/06/06

To support Rwandan people and military's efforts to fight against the COVID-19 outbreak, the Chinese People's Liberation Army provided the Rwanda Defence Force with epidemic prevention and control supplies.

On June 3rd, 2020,  the aircraft of China Air Force loaded with the medical supplies landed in Kigali. H.E. RAO Hongwei, Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, and General Jean Bosco KAZURA, Chief of Defence Staff of Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) signed the handover certificate on the airport upon the arrival of the supplies.

Amb. RAO said that the donation is of great significance under the current circumstances. The supplies include medical masks, protective gowns and non-contact forehead infra-red thermometers etc. The Chinese side wishes they will help the Rwandan side to improve the capability to fight against the pandemic. The donation not only shows the profound and friendly military relations between China and Rwanda, but also stands as the practice of China's vision to build the community of a shared future for mankind.

On behalf of the RDF, General KAZURA extended sincere appreciation and thanks to the Chinese People's Liberation Army for the timely donation. He said as the saying goes "a friend in need is a friend indeed", the Chinese brothers always think about the Rwandan brothers. Rwanda looks forward to further collaboration with China in the fight against COVID-19. With the strong support from China, Rwanda will overcome the pandemic at an early date.
