The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Rwanda Hands over Medical Supplies to the Office of First Lady of Rwanda

On July 7, the handover ceremony of the medical supplies donated by the Chinese Government to help Rwandan mothers, children and young people is held at MPPC warehouse of Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) in Kigali. Political Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda, Ms. Xing Yuchun, Advisor to the Frist Lady of Rwanda, Ms. Radegonde Ndejuru, and DG of RBC, Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana attended the ceremony.

Counselor Xing commended at the ceremony that, as the COVID-19 spreads and worsens all over the world, it is crucial for all countries to help each other, unite and cooperate with each other so as to prevail over the disease. China will never forget the sincere assistance and support from Rwanda during its most difficult period to defeat the virus. Professor Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, has always been care about the cause of African women and children, and sympathized with the sufferings and the difficulties of the people in African countries including Rwanda, especially the vulnerable groups during the pandemic time.

Counselor Xing said, today the Chinese Government officially handed over this batch of medical supplies to Rwanda, which was part of the aid materials donated by the Chinese Government through the Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD) to 53 African countries, and also was a positive response by Professor Peng Liyuan to the assistance request from OAFLAD. The Chinese side sincerely hope this donation could provide support to the mothers, children and adolescents in Rwanda to fight against the pandemic, and meanwhile further deepen the unbreakable friendship between the two countries.

Ms. Radegonde Ndejuru, on behalf of First Lady of Rwanda, Mrs. Jeannette Kagame, expressed gratitude for China's care and help for Rwandan women, children and young people, and highly praised the great contribution made by Professor Peng Liyuan for the cause of African women and children. Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, on behalf of the Rwandan Government, also reiterated sincere appreciation and thanks to China for several batches of anti-COVID-19 aids to Rwanda since the outbreak of the pandemic. He said, Rwanda is willing to continue to join hands and collaborate more with China in fighting the pandemic, and will surely defeat the virus and overcome the difficulties together at an early date.
