Chinese Embassy Hands over the Second Batch of Medical Supplies Donated by China to Ministry of Health of Rwanda

On September 22nd, the Embassy of the People's Republic of China hands over the second of medical supplies donated by the Chinese Government to the Ministry of Health of Rwanda at MPPC warehouse of Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) in Kigali. Mr. Wang Jiaxin, Commercial Counselor of the Embassy, and Mr. Zacharie Iyakaremye, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health of Rwanda, attend the handover ceremony.

Mr. Wang commended at the ceremony that, Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity against COVID-19 was successfully held via video link in June 2020. H.E. President XI Jinping discussed with H.E. President Paul KAGAME, along with Heads of State and Government of other African states, whereby a series of significant resolutions have been reached. It has further strengthened friendship and mutual trust, and also demonstrates the firm determination of China and Africa to join hands and beat the virus. 

Today, the second batch of medical supplies are officially handed over to Rwanda, which is not only standing as the fulfillment of the consensus and outcomes of the Extraordinary Summit, but also showing the two countries' sincere friendship of sharing weal and woe, through thick and thin. The solidarity and cooperation of China and Rwanda always transpires in the progressive sense, and there is no end to it. As Rwanda has entered a new norm featuring both pandemic control and economic recovery, China is willing to offer necessary support for Rwanda's fight against COVID-19 and economic & social recovery in the post COVID-19 era. 

Iyakaremye spoke highly of China's efforts to fight the pandemic, and expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the Rwandan Government to the Chinese Government and its people. He said the Chinese Government and enterprises have donated multiple batches of medical supplies to Rwanda, which have provided significant help and support to Rwanda's fight against the virus. The Ministry of Health of Rwanda will make good and efficient use of the supplies to protect the frontline health workers. Iyakaremye also expressed willingness to further deepen exchanges and cooperation with China in health fields.
