On October 10, the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda hosted a send-off reception for 30 Rwandan students embarking on a six-year undergraduate clinical medicine program at Inner Mongolia Medical University. Attendees included Ndayizigiye Jean Marie Vianney, Permanent Secretary of Rwanda’s Ministry of Health, representatives of the Chinese Medical Team in Rwanda, and Counsellor Gao Zhiqiang of the Chinese Embassy.

Ambassador Gao Wenqi noted that 2026 marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Rwanda and the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges. He highlighted growing bilateral cooperation in healthcare and education, noting that the expansion and renovation of Masaka Hospital was handed over in August. He encouraged the students to make the most of this opportunity and contribute to Rwanda’s healthcare development after graduation.
Ndayizigiye thanked China for its continued support in training Rwandan medical professionals and advancing the country’s healthcare sector, expressing hope for stronger bilateral healthcare cooperation.
During the event, the Chinese Medical Team introduced Inner Mongolia’s culture and development achievements and interacted with the students. C&D (Rwanda) donated a winter coat to each student, demonstrating Chinese enterprises’ commitment to China-Rwanda friendship and youth talent development.
