On October 21, in collaboration with Mr. Gerald Mbanda, founder of Africa China Review, the Embassy held a seminar on 70 years of China-Africa cooperation. The event was attended by Ambassador Gao Wenqi, Hon. Amb. Fidelis Mironko, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, as well as experts and scholars from Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Liberia, Beijing Foreign Studies University of China, Renmin University of China, and Communication University of China.

Amb. Gao noted that 2026 marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Africa, and the 55th anniversary between China and Rwanda. Over 70 years, China-Africa friendship has endured and grown. Both sides fought side by side for national independence and support each other in modernization. China has implemented zero-tariff treatment for all African countries with which it has diplomatic relations, steadily advancing the building of an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era. China is ready to work with the African side to faithfully implement the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing Summit and bring more benefits to the Chinese and African peoples. Amb. Gao briefed on four principles on the constructive participation of relevant parties in the resolution of African hotspot issues and four-point proposition on advancing China-Africa mining cooperation proposed by President Xi Jinping.

Amb. Mironko expressed appreciation for China's valuable support for Rwanda and Africa’s development, noting that Rwanda is willing to work with China to jointly implement the important consensus reached by the two Heads of State and carry forward the traditional friendship. Participants reviewed the achievements of China-Africa cooperation, emphasizing that deepening cooperation with China is an inevitable path for Africa to achieve sustainable development and modernization. They reaffirmed the willingness to work with China to implement the four major global initiatives, jointly build the "Belt and Road", construct an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era, and create a better future.
